Sattiraju Laxmi Narayana , famous by his pen name Bapu,was born on 15th dec 1933 to sri venu gopala rao and smt suryakantham , brought out a new sensational way through his Cartoons, Paintings and Movies. He set a new classical, social and comed trend in Telugu literature and art fields. He started his paintings , Cartoons at an early age. Many exhibitions and seminars held on his paintings till now have all registered an unforgettable memory to the visitors & viewers. Bapu, whose works have earned praise not only in his motherland but also abroad, treats each of the scenes in his film with lyrical, classical, artistic, and colorful charm.He ‘draws’ every still of a movie to show the artistes how he wants the frame to be.

He is a law graduate from Madras University. He entered into cine field with Mr. Mullapudi Venkata Ramana and was an assistant producer of some movies. He started directing in 1967 and the movies under his direction are famous for classical and lyrical charm. The liveliness in his paintings are real portrayed portrayals of the artists in the movies directed by him.

He won many awards and rewards along with Ramana. They won doctorate award from Andhra University, and many awards from government and non-government organizations. In 1987 AP Goverment felicitated with the prestigious Raghupathi Venkaiah Award and In 1991 Andhra University felicitated him with a doctorate for his services to the Telugu film industry.
